Everything that surrounds us is energy. YOU are energy in physical form. We exercise our bodies to get our own energy moving. We put nutritious, wholesome foods in our body as we know it is good for our health. We activate our brain by learning new skills while absorbing new ideas to stay young and sharp. We practice yoga and meditation to balance and nourish our spirit through our breath. We work with our thoughts and emotions to better understand ourselves and our place in the world. We do all of this by expending our energy in positive ways so that we can enjoy our lives to the best of our God-given ability. We accept that we will ultimately benefit from caring for our Selves this way.
The same principle applies to our environment. We want to get that energy moving and working FOR us. It has the power to elicit a lasting and positive impact on our well-being, but is often the last area we look to (if at all) as a means of Self-Care. We may not fully recognize that our outer reality, or our ‘stuff’ and the way in which it surrounds us, affects us.
The truth is that our outer reality, including our personal space and belongings, reflects our inner reality.
And we have so much more power than we ever imagined in co-creating or ‘designing’ nourishing spaces that can move us into our authenticity and creative expression; much the same way exercise, mindful eating, learning, Yoga, meditation and all aspects of Self-Care do. Now more than ever is it time to wake up to this often overlooked layer of care we can gift to ourselves.
One way we can recognize this is in how we can sense the energy of a space from the MOMENT we enter it. We know how it feels. Due to a variety factors it can feel good, it can feel bad, or somewhere in between. Either way the space effects us. We are brought up or brought down simply by being present in the environment. And more and more studies are revealing this truth.
When potential homeowners go to buy a house, studies show that they will know within 10 seconds whether or not they like it. Their senses and in turn their emotions are becoming activated as they are immediately able to gauge whether or not this is a feeling they desire to experience on a regular basis as their home. Their senses are picking up invisible vibrations and these signals positively resonate or don’t. And this all happens unconsciously.
Intenzenden is the conscious practice of intentionally activating the energy in our physical environment to support our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. It is in becoming aware that our space affects us, can support us, and that by infusing it with intention, inspired design and Self-expression, we can witness great shifts in our spirit. It is the big picture practice of co-creating beautiful, nourishing and sacred environments so that we can feel good on the inside AND on the outside. We can come into balance with our inner nature. We can feel good. We can feel whole. We can be reminded who we really are.
We can become ONE with our intention. One with our heart.
