Before we go any further, I want to share how I have decided to approach 2018. I’ve learned so much since my experiment and I can’t wait to share all that I’m discovering about intentional living! I can guarantee I’ll be learning more as the process unfolds, but as of now, this is the plan.
If you’ve wondered why I haven’t shared much from my first experiment, it’s because there was such a learning curve that I am having trouble figuring out the best way to express what happened. I will start by saying that approaching an intention experiment with an end-goal is not the way to go. I now know it’s in the journey, and you must be open to where this will lead. Our heart knows what it needs despite what our head may be saying. This topic of surrender is one I will get more into later because it is a LARGE part of the process, but for now I will leave you with my goal for next year in cultivating a beautiful garden of SELF-LOVE in my home!
SO (insert drumroll) DUH, NUH, NUH, NUHHHHH!
APPLY MASSIVE DOSE OF LOVE TO MY HOME LITTLE BY LITTLE, ONE DAY AT A TIME
(think watering my garden)
EVERY DAY FOCUS ON ONE OF THE SEVEN AREAS AS IT RELATES TO MY VISION FOR EACH AREA USING INTENTION WHEEL
(note: will share my my individual mind maps with you so you know what I am talking about later)
I have a few mind maps to help get started with the process. I am a visual person, and I find these wheels to be very helpful in mapping out my vision. (i.e. What do I desire to experience in each area of my home as it relates to my well-being?) Every single part of our lives at home can be related to one of these seven areas. (Seriously, think about it. It’s kind of fun.)
INTENTION THREE: TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE WITH YOU HERE ON THIS BLOG!
And folks, that’s it. Not making it complicated this time and these are my only guidelines.
MY HOME VISION AT A GLANCE
HOW EACH AREA OF OUR HOME LIFE CAN RELATE TO A SPECIFIC PHYSICAL SPACE:
For now, I will leave it here, as I have individual mind maps for each area that I’ll share as we go along, but I HOPE this makes sense to you! Once you start thinking of your home in terms of your needs in this way, tending to each area becomes SO MUCH FUN!! It’s like we are planting little seeds of growth in each area. We are setting ourselves up for success!
KNOWING OUR WHY
When we organize and design without knowing our “why”, eventually we will be left where we started as old habits will creep into existence. Yes, we will enjoy benefits of organization and will absolutely feel lighter and brighter in the short term, but if we don’t know our why and if we are not committed to personal growth, at some point we will once again become the back seat drivers of our lives. When we tend to our homes deliberately, we consistently will be asking ourselves, what do I want to create today? What is my inner-navigational system trying to say to me? Have I been listening? By creating an intentional home, we are giving ourselves permission to listen and follow our internal guide.
If this still sounds a little “heady” or complex, I can promise you that once you start living this way it becomes second nature. When I go to the bathroom to get ready, I know I want to feel good and that I am caring for my body. And my body is listening. When I go to work at my desk, I know what I am there to do and what my vision is for work-life. When I go to rest, I know that I have put the intent into creating a comfy, haven for rest and relaxation. My space is speaking to me, many times, when I need it most. I cannot over-estimate the importance in knowing your why.
I’ll leave it here for today!
In good vibes and a full cup,
